Being Different...

I love the story, Giraffes Can't Dance. You see, it's about Gerald the giraffe and how he can't really dance because he is all legs and not graceful and all the other animals of the forest make fun of him because he is different and can't dance. Then one night, Gerald finds the song inside of him and dances beautifully. The story concludes, "We all can dance if we find the music that we love". 
     We will be bringing home our beautiful daughter at a time in her life when being "different" would have had her sent to an institution. It would have been much harder to get her out of that place and put her in a family. I am told she is a sweet spirit and I can't imagine her having to go to such a place. Our daughter looks different. She has a cranio-facial difference and will need to see a cranio doctor for surgery. We don't know how soon, but are hoping we can hold off for a while so she gets settled.
     What we do know is this "sweet spirit" will turn 5 in in a few months at which time she would have been put away in a place where no one can visit. Locked away from life and unable to reach her full potential because, like Gerald in the story,she is different. I am so thankful to God that He has chosen us to be this amazing little girl's family. God has reaffirmed to me time and time again that He is here and will carry us through. Thank you God.
